The mutants always win. We have seen them in the comic books, we have seen them in the movies and we have heard stories about them from our peers. Wolverine never dies. He is angry and he is destructive. Ditto Magneto. The urge to rule is so intense that it does not matter who stands in your way. It is the utter hatred for the lower beings (read humans) that has been a driving force for the Magneto clones. And literary culture directly or indirectly always affects human life. We have heard of children jumping over walls, we have heard about people hallucinating about superheroes and now we have among our midst, the corporate mutants. Beings so superior that they cannot be compared to ordinary beings. Beings so perfect that they loathe the losers. There is only one way in life, the winning way. Or so they think!
The Strykers:
Col. Stryker created perhaps the most successful mutant of all times. And the mutant ultimately designed was Stryker’s end. The corporate in their thirst for excellence, created the perfect soldiers, immune to pain, immune to emotions and with just one goal- to destroy the enemy. Only, just as Col Stryker, the corporate never imagined these soldiers could be turned against them. And in the current corporate culture of do or die, the mutants are out with their own motto, “Never kneel, only kill”.
The Mutants:
The winners, the strongmen, the perfect solders created by a culture set up by the corporates. Meant to be loyal and taught to win, these mutants discovered that loyalty could only make their masters win. Sadly, that was only something that was taught to them. It was never imbibed in their minds to serve. And thus started corporate politics. The masters never realized that it would be better to trust the ordinary humans in the long run. In the race to win the masters never realized that the winning could be temporary. And their very creations could their undoing.
The Humans:
Aah, the losers. The slowpokes. The good for nothings. But nevertheless, the corporate story is yet to end. Not long from now, the corporate will have to come up with a solution to control the mutants. Magneto has to land up in a plastic jail. Wolverine will have to lose his memory. It is ultimately a choice, the mutants will have to make. Be human and be happy or be a mutant and continue to struggle for an identity. Winning might not be the only solution always. Sometimes, it is advisable to lose.
The theory of Coexistence:
Can we all co-exist? Seems unlikely. But then we could do with toned down mutants. People not on artificial steroids but people with natural enzymes. People who will not lay down their lives for a career. People who will not fall prey to corporate blackmail. People with a mind of their own. People who need to understand that everyone needs to work equally. And finally, winning at any cost is not an option. It is when we all realize the meaning of these Pink Floyd lyrics that we can have a better world.
"Run, rabbit, run
Dig that hole, forget the sun,
And when at last the work is done
Don’t sit down; it’s time to dig another one
For long you live and high you fly
But only if you ride the tide
And balanced on the biggest wave
You race toward an early grave."
